St. George’s New Costco Is Going To Be Huge!
Costco is always a zoo in St. George and the second location may be even busier with how large it will be.
The building has been signed off by the city and is going to be at 4700 S. Desert Parkway near I-15. 18 acres and 160,000 square feet is what residents can expect to be taken up by the new Costco, the Salt Lake Tribune said.
If all goes according to plan, the new Costco could be open in early 2026.
The city commissioners voted 6-0 for the new Costco. This was after a bid from other local cities was won out by St. George. The city is offering $3.18 million in impact fees, public infrastructure, and permit costs, the SLT said.
“It was a competitive process,” said St. George Economic Development Director Chad Thomas. [Costco] “was looking at a few sites in Washington County, and the incentive agreement provides an opportunity to bring that second Costco … to St. George.”
With St. George growing so rapidly, the city is banking on having the second Costco as a traffic driver, especially with it being near I-15.
The SLT also said that the building will have almost 800 parking stalls, and a “five-lane fueling station” with 15 pumps. That’s 30 fueling positions.
There may be 30-feet tall lamps to light up the parking lot but that still has to go through the city council. However, they are predicted to be following the city commissioners' lead on this decision and okay the plans.
