Utahns love Costco because of its bulk items and cheaper prices for more but it also sells some super odd expensive things, like gold bars.

If you have ever thought to yourself “I should really go buy that gold bar” then Costco is the place. However, a recent change has been implemented that limits the amount of gold bars you can purchase in a 24-hour period.

What was previously two 24-karat gold bars has been limited to one per transaction, USA Today said. Also, only two can be purchased in a 24-hour period.

I’m truly not sure who is going out to buy gold bars in this economy but hey, to each their own.

With that said, this is an unusual item and can be purchased online in all states except in Louisiana and Nevada (sorry, neighbor).

Gold bars are an online only item that tends to sell out quickly.

This is just another limit being put on shopping by the retailer as the economy shifts. However, the South African gold bars limit could be because of the price increase skyrocketing. USA Today said those one-ounce gold bars are now going for over $3000 which is a 70% increase from 2023.

That's when Costco started offering these off and luxurious items. Back then, they cost around $2000 so that is a significant increase.

Other Items Costco Is Limiting:

  • One-Ounce American Eagle Gold Coin—One per transaction, two for a 24-hour period.
  • 10-ounce Silver Bar—One per transaction, 10 in a 24-hour period.
