What Is The 75 Hard Challenge And Why Utahns Love It
Fitness is a relative term and many Utahns have been gravitating toward the 75 Hard Challenge that has resurfaced this year.
If you haven’t heard of the 75 Hard Challenge, don’t worry you probably will, especially if you are on social media. Though it has been around for a few years, the challenge focuses on two components; physical and mental fortitude.
If I go through the rules and you are flabbergasted, well the good news is that there is an alternative.
75 Hard Rules
- Two 45-minutes workouts a day one MUST be outside.
- No cheat days for whatever diet you are on.
- Read 10 pages daily of a self-help or self-improvement book.
- Take a daily progress picture.
- Drink a gallon of water.
Now, if all this sounds a bit overwhelming, that's because it is supposed to be a HARD challenge. Plus, if you miss a day you have to start all over.
However, the mental and physical aspect could be life-changing and getting out of your comfort zone is a great way to get ready for summer.
Pen State Health News covered how the 75 Hard Challenge can be somewhat unrealistic for many people with jobs and families. So, the alternative is the 75 Soft Challenge.
75 Soft Rules
- One 45-minute workout a day
- Have more healthy foods, only drink alcohol on occasion
- Read 10 pages of a book of your choosing
- Drink 3 liters of water a day
This seems much more manageable. However, both challenges require a 75-day commitment. Roughly three months of a possible transformation.
If you are looking to start, there are local groups, even in Southern Utah that offer support and online advocates who vouch for the program. Utahns seem to like the 75 Hard Challenge as a way for self-improvement.
So, if you’ve done either of the challenges, I would love to hear what you think! Message me on FB.
