What You Need To Know About Seeing The Utah Cherry Blossom Trees
Utah is in a very special time right now since Spring is here and the cherry trees are in blossom.
It's Cherry Blossom season for just a few short weeks, and that means that the cherry trees at the Utah State Caption will be in full bloom. The season may be short but it's a stunning sight for tourists and locals to view if they can.
According to the Utah State Capitol website, the Yoshino Cherry Trees only bloom for a few weeks during the year. Usually, it's the last week of March and the first two weeks of April when people can view the trees.
These trees are actually planted from 2007-2008 after the original cherry trees planted had reached the end of their lifespan. In 1931, cherry trees from Washington were purchased and planted that April.
The newer trees from the 2000s are from Oregon. 433 cherry trees were grown just to be planted at the Utah State Capitol. Those are the trees that are still there so visitors can walk through and see them.
At the Utah State Capitol, the cherry trees are planted at the .7-mile Memorial Walkway.
Though there are only a few short weeks to see the cherry blossom season in Utah, the sight is definitely worth it. If you have the opportunity to walk through the cherry trees at the Utah State Capitol, take advantage of that!
The best time will be in the next few weeks but that may also mean that it will be busy since everyone wants to see the cherry trees.
Happy Cherry Blossom Season!
