The warmer the weather gets means that pesky bugs like mosquitos will make their way to Utah and become super annoying.

Not only do mosquitos have numerous diseases they carry and can infect humans with but, their bites are annoying and itchy. So, keeping them out of your home and yard is pretty essential to having a good time in the spring and summer.

How To Keep Mosquitos Out:

There are a few ways to go about this and the methods are ultimately up to you. However, taking all of these and seeing what works for you will be the best bet.

  • Zapper and Light Traps
  • Have fans outside to disrupt mosquito flight traps.
  • Use Mosquito Netting.
  • Mosquito Traps.

For more natural remedies, there are candles, plants, and sprays.

Native Pest Management said that citronella candles are something that mosquitos hate! Citronella can help cover human scents. There are oils like oil of lemon eucalyptus or OLE which is also a good repellent. However, the CDC does not recommend using pure OLE.

Plants That Repel Mosquitos:

  • Citronella
  • Peppermint
  • Lemongrass
  • Marigolds

Some other ways to keep mosquitos out of your Utah home is to maintain your yard. Keeping your yard nice and short eliminates a spot for mosquitos to hang out since they like tall plants and grass.

Lastly, standing water can be a mosquito magnet so make sure your yard doesn't have any ponds or buckets of water around. That is where these insects like to lay their eggs and breed.
