Why More People Are Looking Into Building Tiny Homes In Utah
Utah, just like much of the U.S. is trying to deal with its unaffordable housing crisis however one idea could help those looking to become homeowners.
There are a bunch of laws and regulations when it comes to building homes (understandably) but what classifies as a “permanent” dwelling in Utah gets confusing. For example, anything on wheels in Washington County is considered a temporary home.
But what about people who want tiny homes? Even on wheels.
It gets tricky but depending on where you are in Utah, you can have one. There are a few Utah communities that allow the building of tiny homes on land. According to Great Lakes Tiny Homes, Washington County requires less than 300 feet to build a tiny home. You just have to get access to utilities.
For those who have a small family or are single adults, this is a great option and still allows for personal space when you come home from work. Not only that but it would be so cool to have a bunch of tiny home neighbors!
Depending on where you are in Utah, there are even tiny home communities. However, since regulations are based on your county you will have to check if it is okay to build one.
It's quite different from a regular sized home but could be the right amount of space for you. As affordable housing issues continue, more and more people are looking into these adorable structures.
Just make sure everything is up to code and cool with your local government and then build yourself a little sanctuary.
