Make Friendsgiving in Utah Easy And Fun
Thanksgiving is usually a time for families or blood relatives in Utah, but Friendsgiving is a lot more laid back (and maybe more fun).
Some people may just be too far away to participate in Thanksgiving or maybe they’ve cut off relatives after this year's election results. Either way, there is no reason you can’t have a Friendsgiving and enjoy the great company and close bonds in that fashion.
So how does one Friendsgiving in Utah?
It’s pretty easy but just like any holiday there has to be some planning involved. It is common for people to get together the day before Thanksgiving or even the weekend before and celebrate it then. Get the group chat going and see what works for everyone.
Once you have planned a day and time then it's on to the food. Some may want a more traditional meal filled with mashed potatoes (or funeral potatoes), turkey, ham, green beans, stuffing etc...
The cool thing about Friendsgiving though is that it doesn’t have to be traditional foods. Heck, maybe you do a taco bar, or everyone just brings a bunch of soups or casseroles. Make it fun for you and the friend group and mix it up.
The key element is that everyone brings something. It takes the pressure off, and everyone does a little something.
Friendsgiving Activities
After the food has been decided, you will want to think of some fun activities for the group. Again, the group chat will come in handy for this but just in case, here are some ideas.
Someone brings either a chalkboard or a whiteboard and have friends write on it as they come in. Show your friends some gratitude this way and do it for cheap. These things are usually found either at places like Wal-Mart or even the dollar store.
Bingo
Find a Thanksgiving Bing board online and add it to your list of activities. It could be fun and low cost.
Turkey Hands
We all remember making turkey hands in school back in the day. Honestly, it might be fun to reconnect with your inner child. Grab some cheap supplies and have everyone create some turkey hands and you can even turn it into a competition.
Holiday Movies
If you want a more chill Friendsgiving throw on some holiday movies and ask people to wear pajamas. It makes it cozy and fun.
