Everything You Need To Know To View June’s Meteor Shower In Utah
A June meteor shower is the perfect way to spend an evening in Utah and luckily, one is happening this Friday.
The Bootid Meteor Shower is expected to reach its peak on June 27, Forbes said. This meteor shower is especially great for viewing with the new moon in place, meaning the meteors will be easier to spot.
The amount of “shooting stars” one might be able to see isn’t exact and could range from a few per hour to a hundred.

However, the chance of seeing something spectacular on a summer night in Utah is something you shouldn’t pass up on.
Best Time to See the Bootid Meteor Shower
The Bootid Meteor Shower will peak before dawn on June 27th but the best displays of “falling stars” can be seen at dusk when day turns to night. Forbes said that 7:00 p.m. EDT will be the optimal time to view the meteor shower. For Utahns this may be tricky since EDT is two hours ahead of us. 5 p.m. is still rather bright out so waiting until 8:30 p.m. or 9 p.m. will be better.
The main constellation for this meteor shower is Boötes the Herdsman which will be the brightest in the sky. The stars that will shine the most in this constellation, Arcturus and star Alkaid, will be very visible during peak times. They should be pretty easy to spot at the end of the Bid Dipper’s handle, Forbes said.
With the new moon, the meteor shower should be pretty visible, so take a step outside and see if you can spot it!
