In Utah, Easter is associated with normal things like bunnies, painted eggs, church, etc. but it's not just an excuse to visit family and stuff bellies.

The whole holiday started way before anyone went to Grandma's house on Sunday for Easter egg hunts and chocolate bunnies. In Christianity, it signifies the resurrection of Jesus after his crucifixion. However, according to History, the term Easter comes from an Anglo-Saxon goddess Eostre. Or, it comes from the Latin word “alba” which means dawn. Later translated into “Old High German” the word becomes eostarnum in English.

Essentially, the marketed Easter came much further down the line than any of the suspected origins of the holiday.

Here are a few ways to celebrate Easter in 2024:

Dye Eggs

It doesn’t matter how old you are, dying eggs will always be fun, especially if there is a competition or a theme. If you have a smaller family and aren’t too fond of the larger Easter celebration crowds, make it a fun at-home experience! The holiday colors are fun but can’t possibly be everyone's cup of tea. So, add a theme like a family-favorite movie. Or use different materials like white crayons, glitter, food, etc.

There is no need to keep doing the same thing every year just for the sake of tradition!

Eat ONLY Easter Shaped Food

This might sound weird but, hear me out. Eating a sandwich with bunny ears is much better than eating a sandwich without bunny ears. It's also fun for the kids who could try their hand at making mom and dad an Easter egg pancake (oval).

Just grab a cookie cutter or look up some tutorials for how to make extra cute Easter shaped foods.

Best Chocolate Bunnies Competition

There aren’t many people who dislike chocolate and it’s a must for many for Easter. Turn it into a competition and your family just might find Southern Utah's best Chocolate Bunny. Have everyone pick out different brands of chocolate at the store (or visit a local chocolate shop) and chomp down on those sweets.
