Utahns are feeling the Spring weather which means many are looking to start preparing for the summer body.
Now, before you stop reading, I’m not going to tell you to stop eating junk or fast food, work out 2 hours a day or fast. You can do all those things if you want too though! That’s just not what this is about.
As people are gearing up to wear swimsuits and crop tops in the scorching summer heat, focusing on the body is bound to come up.
Let's not get obsessed now and try to remain calm.
The biggest struggle is staying consistent and if you have worries about doing so, just remember that it's not about motivation, it's just about doing it.
I will give a disclaimer: I am not a health professional nor am I a nutritionist, but I am a lazy person who likes to be healthy. Basically, I find the cheat codes to feeling and looking better without giving up everything I love, including food.
So, if you’re like me don’t worry, I have done the research for you, you just have to follow along and keep reading!
Can you slim down and lose weight eating junk/fast food?
The answer is...YES. You actually can slim down and lose weight while going to Chik-Fil-A, Del Taco, or even Starbucks. If you like chips, candy, etc. you don’t have to give it up, just cut it down.
There may be some swaps you need to make and maybe you can’t eat In-N-Out three days a week, but you can still eat it.
HelpGuide.org gives the basics of things you should avoid at fast food places. Just remember that if you feel like you’re eliminating a bunch of foods, it's going to be hard to maintain.
At home, maybe focus on less carbs and more protein and veggies. Snacks like fruit are low in calories and if everything isn’t drenched in a sauce, you can count it towards a positive intake.
Do I Have to Go to The Gym to Lose Weight?
Well, you don’t HAVE to do anything. Maybe the gym isn’t the place for you and funds are low. Walking is your best friend. I can’t tell you how many steps a day you should take but fitting it into your schedule would go a long way.
With technology and work from home being so prevalent and office jobs requiring a lot of sitting, walking is way less than it should be. So, be aware and add a morning and afternoon walk to your schedule. It gets you out in the sun too!

If you are just trying to get that summer body, I totally get it. We all want to look great in less clothing and the heat makes that a given. Basically, if you consume less calories than you burn and look for better food options, you can’t go wrong.
You burn calories just by breathing so no need to go crazy with the workouts. You’ll burn more with exercise like walking, dancing or anything that gets your heart rate up.
Just remember, health looks different for everyone, and motivation isn’t key, just doing it is.
