Black History Month Book Recommendation: Black Utah: Stories from a Thriving Community
It’s the final week of Black History Month. To wrap up my book recommendations for the month I’m recommending Black Utah: Stories from a Thriving Community. Black Utah: Stories from a Thriving Community was published last year and the stories within were put together by James Jackson III, the Founder of the Utah Black Chamber and focuses on the stories and experiences of the Black community living in Utah.
Two hundred and seventy-two pages long, Black Utah: Stories from a Thriving Community is divided into nine sections that cover corporate leadership, emerging and veteran change-makers, shaping law and policy in Utah and beyond, small business leadership, emerging leaders, Utah natives, raising a family in Utah, dining and entertainment, and religious leadership. A friend of mine recommended the book and I found it an interesting look into native Utahns and transplants' stories while living in Utah. I’m halfway through the book and will post again with my final thoughts when I’ve finished the book.
