Utah’s Choice In Anime Is Surprising And Not Mainstream
Utah is a state filled with people who love video games, books, cosplay and yes...even watching anime.
Now, I know that some people think anime is just for kids or that it's some sexualized form of entertainment. The truth is that anime is just like any other television show. There is horror, romance, adventure, comedy, fantasy and slice of life.
Basically, anime comes in all shapes and sizes and Utah has a favorite.
For whatever reason, in 2022 Attack on Titan was Utah’s most searched anime according to research done by CenturyLink. The show officially came to an end in November 2023 so perhaps all those anime watchers who were sleeping on the show in Utah wanted to get some details.
Though Utah is known for its family-friendly vibe and heavy LDS presence, the show Utah searched most for is the opposite of both.
Attack on Titan is just about as gory as it can get in an anime and though the animation is stuffing, watching humanoid monsters eat people is wild. I would have guessed that One Piece or Naruto might have been more searched in the beehive state.
Not only did Utah search up Attack on Titan the most in 2022, but it was also the only state to look up the popular show. Other states were looking into My Hero Academia, Naruto, One Piece and Pokémon.
So, if you think Utah isn’t a little bit risky then think again. Apparently, the state loves its gore and horror when it comes to anime.
