Utah Is A Highly Stressed State: Here’s How To Chill Out
Utah is a stressed-out state and with the state of the world, it really doesn’t come as a surprise.
In 2022 a study was conducted by William Russell about the most stressed-out places in the world. A list of most to least stressed states in the U.S. was included. Things like cost of living, air quality, landfills, suicide rates and LGBTQ+ population density were included in the scores. Out of the most stressed states, Utah ranked No. 9.
That's high on the list out of 50 states. Out of 10 Utah scored a 5.86 on stress.
Many of the things that make Utahns stressed out like air quality and landfills can’t be easily remedied. Sure, you can cut down on car usage (and you should), but the reality is that not everyone will be able to.
So, focus on things you can make immediate changes to and relax a bit. This week is the perfect time to start since Aug. 15 is National Relaxation Day.
Utah and everyone else in the world are experiencing the stress of technology, world issues, and life as it is. However, worrying gives you double the pain and does nothing to help most of the time.
So, go on a hike at a Utah state park, turn off your cellphone for a few hours or just turn off the notifications.
The constant bombardment of news will make anyone go crazy so go out and live away from your busy day-to-day. That could mean reading a book, checking out a new restaurant, hanging out with friends or rotting in front of the T.V.
The point is that Utah could work on its stress levels and chances are you could too. The holidays will start soon, and the busy family life will take over. Take this opportunity to relax and feel like yourself again.
