Utah: Download These Apps Immediately For Phone Security
Cyber scams are common in Utah but the whole U.S. is facing a much more serious cyber-attack.
Earlier this week there was a cyber-attack on AT&T and Verizon which has compromised telecommunications, NBC News said. Basically, your phone calls and text messages are at risk of “foreign hackers”.
This is one of the largest intelligence compromises in the country's history, NBC News said.
So, what can Utahns do to make sure they are safe?
Get encryption messaging apps to protect your information and privacy. These encryption apps will hopefully only be needed temporarily but U.S. executives aren’t putting a timeline on resolving the issue. Just to be safe, especially if you work in any government field, get those encrypted messaging apps ASAP.
Though many of the people whose phones were targeted were in the Washington D.C. area, that doesn’t eliminate the possibility of hackers looking in other places like Utah, NBC News said.
The FBI does know whose phone metadata was accessed but is not going to let people know. So, you will have no idea if your metadata was compromised. That metadata is basically a call screening and how many people you connected with.
A Chinese Embassy Spokesperson denied China having anything to do with this monumental cyber-attack. However, U.S. officials have said that Americans should get the encryptions apps to “minimize the chance of China intercepting messages”.
Some encrypted messaging apps Utahns can look into:
- Line
- Dust
- Telegram
- Signal
If you are worried about your phone being compromised, it’s time to download one of these apps.
