These Are Utah’s Most Underrated Towns In 2024
Everyone in Utah thinks they know a place that needs more “love” or better hype, but Utah is already a tourist destination.
Place like Salt Lake City are already crowded with locals but between the fun attractions and concerts, it's a tourist hub. Going downtown is basically a nightmare during rush hour.
People are crowding national and state parks, but there are some underrated towns that tourists and even Utahns might want to take a chance on. They may be less crowded and more unique for your trip.
The World Atlas named these Utah towns as the most underrated in 2024.
Springdale, UT
I’m not sure if this is underrated or is just outshined by its close neighbor Zion National Park. People from all over the world come to the state just to get a chance to see ZNP and its stunning views. Most visitors will pass through Springdale because going straight through the town leads to the main park entrance.
Riverton, UT
Established in the 1850s, Riverton is in the Salt Lake Valley. It is a rural town with small town vibes and lots of greenery. Tourists can hike along the Jordan River or hike up the local mountains.
American Fork, UT
If you have lived in Utah for a decent period of time, chances are that you’ve heard mention of American Fork. It’s a city that goes right up to the Timpanogos Mountains and has very pretty scenery for outdoors enthusiasts. Plus, it has a cool looking LDS temple.
Cedar City, UT
Also known as the Festival City, Cedar is a well-known hub to any Southern Utah residents. Not only is it home to Southern Utah University put its also where the annual Shakespeare Festival happens bringing in literature and theatre lovers alike.
Tooele, UT
Located just outside of SLC, Tooele is quite different from the bustling city life of its neighbor. The main attraction besides escaping the city for a while is its historic museums.
West Haven, UT
Visitors looking for some outdoor fun away from the desert have a great time here. West Haven is close to Antelope Island State Park and the Wasatch Mountains, so hikers are bound to love it. There is also a beach for some relaxation.
Vernal, UT
This Utah town is all about history from the prehistoric days to the Native American tribes that lived there. If you are a big fan of dinosaurs well, Vernal has the Dinosaur National Monument that you’ll want to check out. There is also a museum with several exhibits for any history nerds.
