The Marvel Character From Cedar City Utah!
You may be surprised to find out that there is a Marvel Comics character from Cedar City Utah!
Let me introduce you to Cedar City native turned super-villain, Peter Quinn. AKA Peepers.
Peter Quinn (Peepers) was created by Marvel Legend Jack Kirby in 1977.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with his work, Jack Kirby created or co-created some of the most recognizable marvel characters of all time like Captain America, The Incredible Hulk, The Fantastic Four and countless others.
Peepers was first recruited by Magneto for his superhuman ability to see things from miles away and shoot energy from his eyes.
Although through my research I have been unable to find the exact panel or reference that says Peepers in from Cedar City, Marvel's own Wiki and databases list his birthplace as Cedar City Utah and that's good enough for me. It's Canon!
Over the years, Peepers has gone through many design changes, and has gone by other aliases such as Occult and The Eye. At one point he was reduced to being a bartender at a villain hangout called "Satan's Circus".
At one point in his life, Peepers was responsible for saving the life of X-Men member The Beast.
Sadly, Peepers was eventually driven off the road and devoured by Predator X in X-Factor (3rd series) #26.
However just like every comic book character, our boy found his way back to life and makes appearances in the comics from time to time as an alternating good guy and bad guy.
Let's give it up for the only comic book character in the Marvel Universe from Utah, Peepers!
