Southern Utah’s Favorite Italian Food
The start of February brings with it thoughts of Valentine's Day and warmer weather on the way, something else it also brings with it is National Fettuccine Alfredo Day on the 7and National Pizza Day on 9th. If you didn’t already know, I love Italian food and Italy is also my favorite country I’ve visited so far. With this in mind, I went to our B921 listeners, took a super official office poll, and asked what your favorite Italian restaurants are.
Chef Alfredo’s Ristorante Italiano: Locations in Cedar City and St. George
With over 30 years of experience, Chef Gerardo Reyes got his start at an Italian restaurant in New Jersey at the age of 14 and managed his first restaurant by the time he was 17. With over 50 years of experience, Chef Alfredo Modica was born in Sicily, Italy, and began working in his grandmother’s restaurant when he was 8 years old.
Gerardo met Alfredo at the restaurant Mama Leone in Las Vegas where Alfredo was a chef. Once Alfredo hired Gerardo, in 2013 Alfredo invited Gerardo to join him in opening two locations of Chef Alfredo’s Ristorante Italiano. The Cedar City location opened in 2013 and the St. George location opened the following year.
Cappelletti's: Located in St. George
Cappeletti’s opened in 2010 in the Downtown St. George area. It offers Italian cuisine with an Argentine flair and is owned and operated by Andres & Lorena Cappeletti and their three children Facundo, Matteo, and Lara.
Nonna Ina’s Italian: Located in St. George
Located in the Green Valley Market the restaurant is run by an Italian family.
Bruno’s Italian: Located in Cedar City (office poll winner)
Bruno’s Italian is the vision of the original owners Antonio Bruno and his wife Nina Bruno. Antonio was born in Sicily, Italy, and met his wife Nina in 1970. Tony and Nina opened their first restaurant together in 1976 in Toronto, Canada.
Chicago Joe’s: Located in Las Vegas
Located in a refurbished home, Chicago Joe’s is located at 820 South 4th Street. Though not technically a southern Utah restaurant you don’t need to travel very far to check out this listener favorite.
