Watch Out! This Insect Is Expected To Swarm In Utah Right Now
This awful insect is back in Utah and will be through summer, terrifying and annoying residents for the next little while.
Appropriately named “Mormon crickets” these little beasts started popping up in mid-May. Unfortunately, central Utahns are used to dealing with these pesky bugs, but this year could be a little worse, Fox 13 said.
Mormon Cricket Season In Utah
Filmore, Utah is the location with the worst luck when it comes to Mormon crickets. The residents and farmers had to deal with a huge infestation about five years ago which was not only disgusting but problematic.
Since farmers get hit the worst because Mormon crickets like to eat the lovely local produce, gearing up for the season is essential. However, it's not always effective in getting rid of these insects.

Having your town overrun by these jumping horrors is an unfortunate part of summer in Utah.
Since the Mormon crickets came out a bit earlier this year, it could cause a problem for Utah residents. Plus, many of these insects come from Forest Service and BLM land, Fox 13 said.
That makes them tricky to deal with, and locals and visitors to the state have to simply do their best for pest control.
Farmers and annoyed residents aren’t the only people who may be impacted. People driving on the I-15 will need to watch out for swarms on the roads. This early in the season, Utahns can only expect the swarms and sightings to get worse.
Utah has had a bad history with these bugs due to stories from the pioneers experiencing destroyed crops until some seagulls came to save the day.
I’m not sure we can count on that so call up your bug spray guys ASAP!
