Cedar City’s Newest Book Club
If you’re a bookworm like me, I have exciting news for you. Cedar City’s newest book club just started.
According to Wikipedia, “secular reading clubs began to emerge in the late 1700s in Europe and America”. Some more fun facts from Wikipedia include that, “women’s chief role in founding the modern book club was a consequence of being marginalized from other intellectual spaces, such as universities”. This history of marginalization has “influenced the book industry of today, with women accounting for eighty percent of fiction sales”. Also included in those facts are that “the first reading groups for Black women formed in Massachusetts in 1827”.
Cedar City’s newest book club at Policy Kings Brewery began its book club meetings Sunday, and you have plenty of time to get your books and join the fun.
The Policy Kings book club was put together to add variety to the book club landscape in Cedar City and held in a setting where people can feel comfortable talking about the books on the reading list in a relaxed setting. The Policy Kings book club is held on the third Sunday of the month. You can check out the book club list below:
Policy Kings Brewery opened in 2016 and has been adding more and more activities to its weekly and monthly lineup since they’ve opened. I’ll leave a link to Policy King’s website here, which will also take you to their social media accounts.
