Utah’s Shocking Rank In Public School Systems Is Awful
Utah’s public schools are falling behind in 2025 and the rankings show that though the state isn’t the worst, it is certainly not the best.
On the basis of student safety, school quality, overall ranking, and student success, the World Population Review looked at all the public schools in each state. Utah is not even in the top 10 or 20.
The beehive state places 37th in the U.S. ranking of public schools. The scores were 48 in school quality, 21 in student safety, and 23 in student success. Though not all the numbers were low, being 37th in the nation isn’t much to brag about.
Based on these parameters, the top public schools in the nation are in New Jersey. The state had 5 in school quality, 2 in student safety, and four in student success. After that came New Hampshire, Connecticut, Vermont and Massachusetts.
The only western state that made the top 15 public schools was Colorado at number eight.
Arizona and Nevada were both in the worst public school system list with Arizona ranking the absolute worst.
Massachusetts has the best student success and ranks first in overall public-school systems.
So, it seems that Utah and most of the western United States, is falling well below average with its public schools. The World Population Review did not give a reason for specific areas falling below the line.
However, it is clear that something needs to change in Utah to better the public school system and how it approaches academics.
