The Largest Resort In Southern Utah To Build Water Park In 2025
Ivins, Utah’s local (and biggest resort) Black Desert Resort is planning to do away with its arena idea and put in a water park.
It gets hot in Southern Utah, especially in the summer, so a water park isn’t the worst idea. However, with Utah’s ongoing drought and super dry year, there could be some concerns about water sources and costs.
According to an article from KSL, Ivins Mayor Chris Hart said that during the LGPA Tournament, traffic wasn’t bad at all. He received no complaints from Ivins residents and was amazed at how it was handled.
With a water park addition, this could be a totally different story.
As an Ivins resident, I didn’t notice any horrible traffic during the LGPA Tournament, but I do notice the construction trucks and repeated heavy traffic from the traffic circle near one of the entrances. I can’t say for certain what kind of impact a water park would have on the traffic, but I can say that it will be busier.
Black Desert Resort managing partner Patrick Manning said that construction for the water park will begin in summer of 2025. The timeline is approximately a year and a half, KSL said.
After that, Manning told KSL a “boardwalk concept” will be next featuring several restaurants and retail space.
Black Desert Resort has officially made itself a huge draw for local and tourist golfers. With the LGPA Tournament and now the Ladies Professional Golf Association Tour in the spring.
Big things are coming to Ivins either way.
