Mailboxes usually carry bills, sometimes letters from loved ones and gifts so those who deliver the mail sometimes need to know about the environment surrounding your home.

The mail carrier profession has been respected for a longtime and has brought news to the masses. Through weather issues, finding houses and other obstacles, there is one that stands out. Dogs.

Mail carries and dogs have been known nemesis since the beginning of time.

However, states like Minnesota have been implementing something known as the Paw Program through the U.S. Postal Service.

Though Utah isn’t a heavy dog-incident state there are still issues with dog bites and very few dog-related deaths.

To protect themselves, mailmen and mailwomen have started putting color coded stickers on mailboxes as a warning. An orange paw sticker indicates that there is a dog at that home and a yellow sticker shows that the next house has a dog, USPS said.

Letter carriers will be the ones putting these on your mailbox and a postcard will also be there to explain the added stickers.

So, Utah should definitely add this to its USPS regiment for the safety of its mailmen and mailwomen. Safety should always be a top priority when someone is coming to your house to deliver YOUR stuff.

Even if they are bringing bills, Utah mail carriers shouldn’t be surprised by your dog even if it is friendly.

This is a fantastic visual aid for them and allows for comfort and ease on the route so let's add this Utah.
