The 3 Dog Breeds Utah Loves The Most In 2025

Dogs in Utah are a big part of the community, and there are some breeds that are more common than others.  

Utah has been in love with golden doodles for a very long time, and the mix of a labrador and a poodle, is a super smart and loveable best friend. However, since it’s technically a mixed breed it is not recognized by the American Kennel Club or AKC.  

The most popular and loved breeds of dogs in the beehive state recognized by the AKC are not surprising at all based on the state’s love of golden doodles.  

Most Loved Dog Breeds in Utah: 

• Labrador Retriever 

• German Shepperd 

• Golden Retriever 

All three of these breeds are great for Utah’s outdoor adventure vibe and also at being good family protectors. So, it comes as no surprise that these are the state’s most favored dog breeds (recognized by the AKC).  

However, a golden doodle still reigns supreme as the most beloved breed in Utah NOT recognized by the AKC.  

There are so many animal lovers in Utah that of course the state has favorite breeds. However, Utah is not unique in its preferences since the AKC said that the four of the five most loved breeds in the U.S are labrador retrievers, golden retrievers, German shepherds, and poodles.  

The number one most loved breed in the U.S. is the French bulldog.  

So, Utah is a bit vanilla with its love of dog breeds, but you can’t argue with how cute and loveable each of these breeds are.
