A lot of people have been stressed lately because of election season and Utahns need to take a break.

No, this does not mean you shouldn’t go out and vote today but elections stress is a real energy drainer and most of us still have work and life. The new leader of the country is a big deal, and local elections also make an impact. However, no matter what happens life does go on.

So, if you’re feeling a bit stressed today (understandably) and maybe well into the rest of the week, there are a few simple things to do.

CBS News offered some guidance from various experts on how to reduce election stress.

Get Moving

It may seem like a good idea to wallow in your stress, but exercise will definitely help your mood. If being a gym rat is part of your normal routine, then do that. If not, maybe a walk or some yoga on YouTube may be good for you.

Keep Your Routine

Utahns, it may feel like the end of the world but as I said before, no matter what results come in life will continue. So, take comfort in your normal routine and do what you would normally do.

Social Media Limits

The night of Nov. 5 is going to feel tense no matter how you vote. Stay off social media as much as possible and only check in for updates. Do NOT doom scroll, it's bad for you anyway but especially today and tomorrow.

No Politics Talk

It might be the only thing on your mind but avoid talking about politics. That is a general rule of thumb anyway, but it is better for your mental health if you don’t.
