Arizona Senate Bill SB1270 just passed in Arizona, making it illegal to drive with a pet on the driver's lap. The bill bans drivers from having pets on their laps while the car is moving.

And it's not just dogs - if you happen to be one of the rare people who have a traveling cat, she'll have to sit somewhere OTHER than your lap while you drive.

SB1270 just cleared the Arizona House of Representatives and is waiting for Governor Hobbs to sign it into law.

If caught driving with a pet on your lap, the proposed fine is $150 for the first offense and as much as $250 if caught again.

Airbags and other vehicle safety features are meant to help save human lives, but they could actually hurt your pet - or worse. As much as they want to enjoy the ride, it's better to secure your furry friends safely in the back seat or a pet carrier.
