So, Utah is hot right now and we have until late August (roughly) until it cools down to regular temperatures.

Southern Utah is especially hot with temperatures getting into the 100s and truly making it miserable to go out in the middle of the day. If you are like me then finding foods that are both helpful for the heat and yummy is a big priority right now.

Some of the following suggested foods may seem a bit odd, but according to Love Food, they have unique properties to help with high temperatures.

Water-Heavy Fruits & Vegetables

Fruits with high water content are both refreshing and hydrating during the summer. Indulging in more fruits and vegetables provides healthier snack options and natural sugar intake so it's good for you too.

  • Watermelons
  • Pineapple
  • Leafy Greens
  • Bananas
  • Berries
  • Peaches
  • Grapefruit
  • Apples
  • Frozen Grapes
  • Cucumber
  • Celery

Drinks

Okay, hear me out on this one but hot drinks. The reason for several of the foods on the list is their ability to cause the body to sweat and cool down naturally. Many people switch to iced coffee or teas during this time of year but, it's only refreshing in the moment.

  • Hot Drinks
  • Flavored water
  • Coconut water

Protein

Thinking of eating any heavy meals can seem just wrong since the heat saps your energy. So, staying away from heavier proteins is a good way to keep your body cool. Love Food has a few suggestions on foods that will help.

  • Fish
  • Eggs
  • Seafood

Other

There are some foods or ingredients that have some cool effects on the body like peppers. These cause your body to sweat naturally cooling it down. Spice is your friend in the summer.

  • Turmeric
  • Mint
  • Yogurt
  • Spicy Peppers

I hope these foods will help you keep cool in Utah as summer gets into full swing in the beehive state.
