Utah’s Miracle Cat Finds Its Forever Home In A Surprising Place
The Bryce Canyon Cat who miraculously survived a 380-foot fall in Bryce Canyon was adopted by a surprising individual.
The Story of Mirage, The Survivor of A Bryce Canyon Fall
In April 2025, two people were found deceased at the bottom of Bryce Canyon National Park. However, an astonishing discovery of a cat inside a pet carrier nearby gave way to the story of Mirage, who survived the fall.
Search and Rescue teams found a cat which Best Friends Animal Society later named Mirage. She is estimated to be around 12 years old.

Upon her arrival at Best Friends Animal Society, the veterinary team discovered that Mirage had minimal injuries from a few broken teeth and cracked ribs. So, she didn’t need any surgical intervention, Best Friends Animal Society said.
After a week of close monitoring, Mirage's breathing seemed troubled, and she was eating less. She was taken to a specialist in Las Vegas where they found fluid had built up in her chest, which was likely a delayed response from the trauma.
Luckily, after a few days of treatment, Mirage was deemed healthy and sent back to Best Friends, the website said.

The family of the late owners were not able to take Mirage in but were on board for a special someone to adopt her; a member of the search and rescue team.
Chelsea, a search and rescue team member, had been thinking of Mirage since their first encounter, she told Best Friends. So, she adopted Mirage and is giving her the best retirement home possible for an older and lazy cat who has been through so much.
