It's often been said that there is a term for people who always agree with their spouses.

They're called HOSTAGES.

Disagreeing in a relationship is absolutely normal, and it happens all the time.

So when something comes along that both Bonnie and I CAN agree on, we will present it to you in a little series we call BONNIE AND MIKEY LIKEY.

Recently we watched a film on Hulu called Rosaline.

It's the story of Romeo and Juliet with a modern twist.

Now before you start freaking out and thinking that it's going to go over your head, it's not. Although the film takes place in Shakespeare times, the language and the references are all modern. No need to dig up and Elizabethan English dictionary.

I'm also happy to report that this is nothing like the Baz Luhrman adaptation where a bunch of shirtless thugs point guns at each other and bite their thumbs at each other.  Gosh dangit that movie was weird.

Kaitlyn Dever, who plays the title character puts on a delightful performance as Romeo's Jilted ex-girlfriend who tries her best to split up Romeo(Kyle Allen) from his new flame Juliet(Isabela Merced), who also happens to be Rosaline's cousin.

It's a romantic comedy with the same kind of structure and worn out cliches that you would expect(Gay best friend? Yup!). Yes, like a Hallmark movie you can probably guess the end of the movie almost before it starts.  But unlike a Hallmark movie, this movie is actually GOOD.

I would argue that there's nothing wrong with predictable as long as it's funny.   And yes, this movie is very funny.

So the next time you are looking for a movie you can both enjoy as a couple, Bonnie and I recommend Rosaline, streaming now on Hulu.
