Utah’s Most Recent World Records: Weird Or Cool?
When you think of world records you probably don’t think “Utah”, but locals have made several of them.
There are World Records for just about anything, eating fast food, longest jumps, longest hair, etc. Here are some of the most incredible records that Utah residents and places have made lately.
#1 Largest Amateur Telescope
Just this year, Mike Clements in Stansbury Park, UT built the world’s largest amateur telescope from military spy satellite he purchases online, World Record Academy said. Utah does have a lot of space lovers, so this makes sense.
#2 Largest Man-Made Excavation
A copper deposit in Salt Lake City holds the world record for the largest man-made excavation. The site is known as Brigham Canyon Mine and is 1,210 m deep. The mine covers 1,900 acres. WOW!
#3 Largest Holi Festival
Though this one may just come as a surprise, Utah currently holds the World Record for the largest Holi Festival. It is a Hindu festival that celebrates the coming of Spring. The location of Utah’s Holi Festival was in Spanish Fork.
#4 Longest Art Gallery
In Nine Mile Canyon between Carbon and Duchesne counties is the world’s longest art gallery. There is a lot of rock art created by the Ute peoples and Fremont culture. The World Record Academy said there are more than 10,000 images.
#5 Largest Herb Farm and Distillery
Mona, Utah is home to the Whispering Springs Lavender Farm which holds the record for largest herb farm and distillery in the world. Young Living Essential Oils is the business the farm uses to sell its herbs. It is a 1,400-acre herb field.
