Utah is seeing increased Covid levels in wastewater across the state and across the country.

As much as we all wish that Covid had been some sort of fever dream it wasn’t and watching for increasing levels is still something we should do. If you’re healthy and have no pre-existing conditions, then you will most likely be alright. However, there are still people who could get really sick from exposure to the virus.

The Salt Lake Tribune reported that of the 35 wastewater sampling sites in the state, 27 have higher concentrations of Covid. Nine of those are trending upward.

Looking at wastewater trends helps health officials and citizens take precautions when a virus like this may see a rise in cases. We all know that Covid spreads rapidly regardless of the strain so being ahead of the curve is always beneficial.

Emergency visits to the hospital dipped in May but have since risen in the state, the SLT said.

This is a tricky virus and one reason for that is someone could have Covid a week and a half prior to showing symptoms. They will go to the bar, hang out with friends and family before even realizing they are sick.

It makes it dangerous for those who have compromised immune systems or pre-existing conditions. Vaccines for this are still available but the urgency to get a Covid vaccines has fallen to the wayside because it hasn’t been as prevalent.

So, for the sake of being a good person just be careful and try to follow the CDC guidelines when you can. And for the love of GOD wash your hands as much as possible.
