These Are The Candies Utahns Need To Watch Out For This Halloween
Halloween is big in Utah which means that candy consumption this time of year is also high.
Everyone likes to have candy occasionally, but true to U.S. standards the pressure to buy and then eat the candy at ungodly rates is a problem. Sugar highs and crashes are very common for Utah kids this time of year, understandably.
However, when you take the little ones out for trick-or-treating, be aware of some of the candys they should eat in moderation and which ones are especially bad for their teeth.
According to Delish, anything that falls into the sour or sticky category is going to be the worst for teeth health. Things like gummy worms, caramel candies, and the like are the worst of the worst.
A study from AZ Family looked at the overall “healthiness” of 23 popular candies. This does not include cavity inducing statistics but what kind of ingredients or nutritional value they have.
Ironically, some of the cadies on this list are better for your overall health but worse for your teeth. You really can’t win with candy.
Here are the top five “healthiest” candies according to AZ Family:
- Jolly Ranchers
- Saltwater Taffy
- Blow Pops and Hot Tamales were tied.
- Swedish Fish and Tootsie Pops also tied.
The top five least “healthy” candies are:
- 3 Musketeers
- Twix
- Snickers
- Milky Way
- Skittles
Your kid or you will probably get all of these during Halloween at some point especially if you are in a trick-or-treating household. Make the most of the candy consumption holiday and definitely do some heavy flossing and brushing afterward.
