A new boba shop has opened in Cedar City.

According to Food and Wine.com, “Boba culture started in the late 1980s and its origins are debated.” Milk tea was already well-known in Taiwan and over time and with evolution, the tea became known as “boba”. Starting in the 1990s boba became a huge craze in the U.S.

I’m sure you’re thinking, okay cool, I know where it came from but that doesn't tell me what’s in it. According to Matthew Wong of New York City-based bubble tea store Tea and Milk in a Delish article, its tapioca pearls are often simmered in a sugary syrup to sweeten them. Once sweetened, the tapioca pearls are added to a base like milk tea, green tea, black tea, coffee, slushie, or even a smoothie.
