Celebrate Imagination on National Science Fiction Day In So. Utah
National Science Fiction Day is right around the corner and there are several places you can celebrate in Southern Utah.
According to National Today, some of the first science fiction emerged in the 1700-the 1800s with Johannes Kepler’s Somnium, Voltaire’s Microsmegas, and Jonathan Swift’s Gulliver’s Travels.
These early pieces of science fiction were followed by work by Jules Verne, H.G Wells, and Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein.
Utah is the perfect place to celebrate National Science Fiction Day. In 2014 Utah was voted the nerdiest state by real estate website Estately. It happened at just the right time, as FanX Salt Lake Comic Convention put on its first convention that year.
It seems that not much has changed since 2014. Checking the nerdiest state ranking for this year depending on where you look, Utah is still the nerdiest state or the fourth nerdiest state. Career website Zippia still ranks Utah as the nerdiest state in 2022 while real estate website Lombardo Homes ranks Utah as the fourth nerdiest state this year. The rankings differ mostly due to the Lombardo Homes ranking being more focused on home décor.
