Utah is known for being the location of several movies, including some very iconic horror films.

Though most of this one beloved Spring-centered movie is filmed outside the U.S., it may come as a shock that parts of it were filmed in the beehive state. Can you guess the movie?

It's Midsommar, the 2019 horror movie that both shocked and captivated audiences all over the world.

With Spring officially here, it's a great time to rewatch it if you enjoy horror movies that aren’t centered on Halloween. However, I will say if you don’t like gore and suspense this will not be for you.

Midsommar mainly filmed in Hungary but there were some scenes in Utah, according to IMDB. The horrifying opening scene was filmed in Draper, Utah with a suburban home as the set. There were also some other locations like Sandy, Utah and downtown Salt Lake City.

Basically, Utah got to be part of one of the most iconic and well-loved horror movies to date.

You may recognize a few of the places if you look carefully and are familiar with the landscape of Northern Utah.

Fun fact: One of the scenes from Midsommar was filmed just a few blocks away from another filming location that was in Hereditary, another iconic horror movie.

Midsommar is a perfect piece to watch right now with the weather in Utah welcoming Spring. So, maybe grab some popcorn for the weekend and settle in for a horror movie night knowing Utah was a part of it.
