Chapter 12 Overthrown by Fire 72

The rock keeps the fire from going out.

Before long, he had a blue flame dancing above his upturned palm. Succubus was enjoying his success when he noticed Borgin watching him. The teacher casually reached out his hand and a stream of air flowed downward pushing the fire onto Succubus’ exposed skin. He quickly dropped the rock to the floor, shaking his hand from the pain.

Looking at him with a sneer Borgin said, “The fire is painful, but it will not leave a permanent scar… unfortunately.”

Sitting there with his sore hand, dark thoughts filled Succubus’ mind. I am sick of Borgin’s punishment and I'm sick of getting volunteered for every demonstration.

The Power of the Underworld Hierarchy

He remembered what Ansu had told him about the hierarchy of demonkind It occurred to him that he could use his position as leader of his group to solve this problem.

Calling Ghamegis and Ipses to him the next morning, before they headed for their classroom, he said, “Next time Borgin asks for a volunteer in class… somebody better raise their hand.” He glared at them threateningly.

Ghamegis exchanged looks with Ipses. They nodded.

They soon moved among the other demons in the cave, explaining what Succubus had said and making threats.

Back in Class

Later as they sat in the cavern that served as their classroom, Borgin was showing them how to draw flame from one of the torches. Then, using a cloud of coal dust, it would appear as if the air were on fire.
