FanX Salt Lake Comic Convention takes place every September and something else that also takes place in September is National Video Games Day.

NYU.edu shows the first debut of the video game at the World’s Fair in NYC in 1940. The Nimatron allowed visitors to play against a computer in the game of Nim. 

Other early entries for video games also include Josef Kates creating the Tic-Tac-Toe machine in 1950 and William Higinbotham creating Tennis For Two in 1958 according to Culture of Gaming.com. 

What you and I would recognize as a gaming console appeared in the 1960s and 1970s with Pong and the first Atari console

Nintendo burst onto the scene in the 1980s and people were introduced to Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, and Metroid.
