This Winter weather makes it the perfect time to visit Utah’s famous ice castles in Midway.
If you’ve never seen the amazing ice sculptures made into towering ice castles, you’re totally missing out!
Each year, the Soldier Hollow Nordic Center in Midway, Utah works to create a beloved attraction built of ice. The towering ice walls allow visitors to walk through making it feel almost as if they are in some sort of Winter kingdom from long ago.
The crew of Soldier Hollow uses 25 million pounds of ice and then creates tunnels, mazes, fountains, and slides for visitors to view. There are also kid-friendly sculptures for children to interact with.
This Utah attraction only happens during the Winter months so, you should head over before the end of February if you want to see it. However, if you do miss it this year, it will be back next Winter usually starting in January while its peak season for ice castles.
Tickets to the ice castle are $25 for adults and $17 for children ages four to 11.
How it came to be:
The story of Midway’s ice castle attraction is a rather adorable story about a father trying to create some Winter magic for his kids.
“Bringing joy to others has been our mission since the company’s inception. Founder, Brent Christensen, crafted his first icy creation in the front yard of his home to bring happiness and joy to his children. After moving from sunny California to snowy Utah, Christensen did what any father of six stir-crazy kids with cabin fever would do. He built an ice cave in his yard to get his kids out of the house. His stroke of genius worked!”
You can also view ice castles in other states like Colorado, Minnesota, New York, and more!
