20 Weird First Names You’ll Only Hear In Utah
yeah yeah we know. Utah is weird.
We prefer to use the terms unique, or peculiar, but yeah I guess weird is fair.
Many jokes have been made about white people in Utah making up words and then naming their kids those made up words. Names like McKayzleigh and Brexlinn and Bostin.
But then there is another category of Utah names. The names that when you hear them, you know instantly for a FACT, that that person is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, or "Mormon". Or at the very least, their PARENTS were LDS at the time they were named.
Now you may be thinking "Gee golly jeepers Mikey! Aren't you jumping to some conclusions here?! You can't assume someone's religion or home state just based off of their first name! That's uh....racist? No that's not it. It's um...uh...It's just not cool."
Fair enough. I would love to be proven wrong. But before you try to talk me out of these conclusions I'm leaping to, think of it this way.
Have you ever met anyone named BRIGHAM whose parents were from Minnesota? Of course you haven’t.
What about Nephi? Or Moroni? Or Weber? Or Heber? Nope, nope, nope and nope.
So while you try and prove me wrong, just enjoy this list of first names that you will only hear either in Utah, or in an LDS Chapel somewhere else.
