Listen, I know the heat is annoying and it is especially dangerous this time of year in Utah. National and State Parks give out warnings and your adventurous dreams may be crushed.

However, it's better to be safe than sorry and your health is more important than those adventures you can reschedule. The good news is that there are plenty of activities to do inside while it's hot to make your home seem less like a prison.

Most likely you’ve already tried reading a book or watching a new movie/television series. So, doing the same thing will feel repetitive and boring. Here are some of my suggestions as well some from RealSimple.

RealSimple offers quite a few ideas so if you run out of your own you can try these.

Take some time for you. This can look very different from person to person but maybe a face mask, some calming rain music or even just taking a longer shower. Let yourself relax and make a day of it with a facial. You can also indulge in a cold bath to relieve the heat.

Cold Sweet Treats

Baking or using the oven during this time of year in Utah (and everywhere) is not ideal since it will make your home hotter. So, focus on things you can freeze. Slushies or boozy ice pops make for a great treat to cool down. A unique idea to try is infused or flavored ice cubes. Just add some herbs, fruit or anything really to your ice tray and freeze. You can enjoy it in your water (which you should be drinking a lot of).

Since you are spending so much time inside your house it may start to seem boring. Grab some paint and touch up or add something new to some old furniture. Build a bookshelf you think a space has been missing. This will help you feel accomplished and give you something to do.

Colorado is Home to Some of America’s Best Summertime Lakes

We're taking a look at some of the best lake towns in the Centennial State. They are hot spots for outdoor activities, close to additional Colorado attractions, and offer a chance at lakeside living or the chance to live just minutes away from the water. If you could live next to one of these ten lakes, which one would you choose?
