Southern Utah Celebrates Record Store Day 2023
Well, my friends we’ve made it through the depths of winter which means if you’re a music lover like I am, it’s time for Record Store Day. Record Store Day has been around since the early 2000s and since we live in southern Utah, we’re lucky to have two stores participating in Record Store Day.
According to Record Store Day’s website, Record Store Day came about in 2008 as a way to celebrate the unique culture around the nearly 1400 independently owned record stores in the U.S. and thousands of similar stores internationally. Record Store Day includes special vinyl and CD releases along with other promotional products made exclusively for Record Store Day. Two of those 1400 stores are located here in southern Utah.
Groovacious Records: Tim and Lisa Cretsinger moved Groovacious from Oregon to Cedar City in 2000 and have been part of the local music scene ever since. Groovacious hosts music events along with poetry readings and an art wall. Groovacious has in-store shopping along with in-store pickup available. Groovacious is open Wednesday-Saturday and is located at 195 West 650 South.
Rock House Records: Rock House Records is a family operation, owned by a father and his two sons. Rock House Records has been around for around two years and is open seven days a week. They offer in-store shopping, shopping through their website, and are located at 31 East St. George Blvd.
