Run Like The Wind At The Adventure 5K
Something to know about me, an addition to the Andrea lore if you will, I don’t run. We had to run a mile for P.E. class in high school and it was torture. My asthmatic lungs are not a fan of running, so unless I’m being chased by a wild animal or axe murderer, I’ll just enjoy easy hikes or a light walk.
However, if you’re a fan of running, you can take in the beauty of Cedar City at the Cedar City Adventure 5K.
Marathons are linked back to ancient times. According to Britannica.com “The long-distance footrace was first held at the revival of the Olympic Games in Athens in 1896. Commemorates the legendary feat of a Greek soldier who, in 490 BC, is supposed to have run from Marathon to Athens, a distance of about 40 km (25 miles), to bring news of the Athenian victory over the Persians and then expired. The story of this messenger from the Battle of Marathon was later conflated with the story of another Greek soldier, Pheidippides, who ran from Athens to Sparta in advance of the fighting.”
The Cedar City Adventure 5K begins along the same route as the Cedar City Half Marathon on September 9th at 7 a.m.
