New Netflix Movie Brings K-Pop To Utah

Netflix has been coming out with some pretty interesting stuff lately, but nothing came as a bigger surprise than KPop Demon Hunters.  

Released on June 20, 2025, the movie has been making waves, and the soundtrack has been beating records. As of June 24, critics gave it a pretty high review of 91% and it has a 96% on Rotten Tomatoes.  

If you haven’t seen KPop Demon Hunters, you need to ASAP.

It's a lovely movie and really gives you all the sad, happy, hopeful, and romantic vibes you could want. That's not even mentioning the music which is AMAZING.  

Apparently, a lot of other people think so too since Your Idol has made No. 6 and Golden No. 8 on Spotify’s Top 50 list this week.  

Utah Adding to KPop Demon Hunters Numbers 

Though there isn’t any exact data on how much Utah contributed to the rise of KPop Demon Hunters, from previous data, we can tell that Utahns definitely played a part.  

In 2022, Utah was the second state that watched Netflix the most, Deseret News said. Utah spent 782 hours using the streaming service...per person.

Moving on to the musical aspect of the movie, there are over 30 thousand Spotify users in the beehive state. This means they have probably been listening to KPop Demon Hunters album on repeat...like me.  

So yeah, I probably helped with the numbers just a bit this week.  

Though K-pop isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, it's a great way to try it out by watching the new Netflix movie. Spend some time this weekend and get to know these awesome characters.
