It might not exactly be Optimus Prime, but you'll have a chance to get a look at equipment that is about as close as you can get coming up this Friday.

Cedar City-based engineering firm Innovatech is hosting its second annual Innovation Parade this Friday, offering the public a rare chance to see futuristic construction equipment up close—and in action.

The parade begins at 11 a.m. at Innovatech’s headquarters, 4360 N. Wecco Rd. (Iron Springs Rd.), and follows a broad loop through parts of Cedar City, including Airport Road, Kitty Hawk Drive, Coal Creek Road, and Main Street, before returning to the facility. While it skirts the downtown core, the parade includes plenty of visible stretches, especially along North Main.

“We’ve done this once before, and the goal is to showcase the systems we’ve been building over the past year,” said Worth Bistline, Engineering Manager at Innovatech, during an interview on KSUB’s Big Picture Morning Show.

Immediately following the parade, Innovatech will host an open house from noon to 2 p.m. Attendees can explore the company’s advanced systems, enjoy food trucks and music, and witness a live equipment demonstration. “Please don’t show up before noon,” Bistline added. “We’ll be moving large equipment around before then.”

A Transformer Called Track Zilla?

One of the star attractions will be “Track Zilla,” a massive tracked telehandler that can lift 50,000 pounds and extend its load up to 100 feet. “It folds out like a Transformer,” Bistline said. “You’ll see one version set up for transport and another in full production mode.”

Founded in 2016, Innovatech grew out of the needs of BZI, a steel erection company. “It started when some of the BZI guys would come in on weekends and build systems that made their jobs safer and more efficient,” Bistline explained. The firm has since expanded to support outside clients and is developing modular manufacturing systems for broader use.

Bistline credits the company’s success to its collaborative culture. “Innovation isn’t about ideas—it’s about making ideas happen,” he said. “That takes a team of incredibly skilled people who each bring something unique to the table.”

While Innovatech’s roots are in construction, its engineering capabilities reflect a forward-thinking approach that spans industries. Whether it’s reimagining how steel beams are welded or assembling building components off-site, the company is helping shape the future of construction—one bold idea at a time.

“Every system we create is a result of problem-solving, teamwork, and determination,” Bistline said. “And this Friday is our chance to show the community what that looks like.”
