It's not all that rare when I'll ask my wife it she would like to go for a ride to enjoy the stunning scenery we are surrounded by. It's always a joy to me to drive around our area, take in the beauty and use the time to clear my mind.

To be able to do that, and help a most worthy cause seems to me to be a win win situation. We have that very opportunity this coming Saturday, June 3rd, by being a part of the 8th Annual Combat Veterans Motorcycle Poker Run.

First things first, while Chapter 49-4 of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association is a motorcycle association, you do not need to be on a motorcycle to participate in the poker run. Cars and trucks are invited and encouraged to take the route.

The poker run will start at the Cedar City Veterans Park located at 200 East at the end of 200 North. Sign ups will be held from 10AM until Noon. The route is approximately 100 miles and the association is estimating it will take from 3 to 5 hours to complete. If you want to pre-register and just be ready to go on Saturday, you can do so at Utahcvma4.com. Everyone is welcome to join the run. The local chapter is eager to have this event bring the southern Utah community together.

The core value of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association is “Vets Helping Vets.” Local Chapter 49-4 donates funds to veterans across southern Utah. The local group says,

it is our duty to seek out and find our brothers and sisters and be the helping hand they need.

There will also be an end of the run party Saturday at 9PM hosted by the Black Bird Bar in Cedar City. The band, Apollo's Army will be on stage at 9PM. The party will have the announcement of the high hand and low hand winners. There will also be drawings for prizes that have been donated by the local business community.

Chapter 49-4 of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association is registered with the IRS as a 501 (c)(3) non profit organization. If you can't make the poker run, but feel inclined to make a donation to the group you can do see on the website. You can also call Charles Triplett at 435-590-7525 if you would like to find out more, or find out about joining the group.

Let your hair down and let it blow in the wind this weekend as you help out a great cause.
