Augtober is the sacred window before fall really sets in, but when you start to feel it approaching. Some people ignore the calendar and just jump into fall before the weather has agreed with their decision. It is also a time when stores roll out the good stuff before the rest of us are finished with back-to-school sales. It is a sweet moment for Halloween gear purchases for the overly prepared and slightly obsessed.

Prepare yourself for:

- yard skeletons tall enough to qualify for Nevada residency
- pumpkin‑spice‑adjacent snacks that taste like cinnamon and ambition

And we pounce early because we know the rule: "If you wait until October, the shelves will look like a teen Halloween reveler tornado has crossed the seasonal aisles."

Southern Utah Should Love Augtober

Now, if Augtober had a capital city, it should absolutely be Southern Utah. In Southern Utah we are set up specifically to embrace this concept for two reasons:

1. We are usually ahead of the season with decor staged ready for a reveal as soon as the proper calendar page turns. We love the season, we embrace it, we annoy our children with a Halloween mask jump scare any time we can.

2. There is no weather conflict. Augtober calls for celebrants to think about Halloween while summer is still lingering, but in Southern Utah we can buy Halloween stuff while it’s 112° outside and feel absolutely zero shame because out here, Halloween is hot. We grew up trick‑or‑treating with coolers so that the Fun‑Size Snickers wouldn't melt, we dress up like devils just to fit in, we bob for apples for an excuse to cool our faces down.
