Chapter 8 Aunt Gert Installment 44
Gert had decided to come and visit on Memorial Day. Jonathan and Solomon were quietly playing a game in the back bedroom when the doorbell rang. Their father called from his home office for someone to get the door, but no one answered. The nanny was home with her family for the holiday and his wife was watching television and had not heard him.

With a sigh he got up and headed to the door. The doorbell rang twice in succession before he got there and opened it. “Aunt Gert.” He said with a smile.
Gert stood with her arms full of packages and a giant purse hanging from her shoulder. “Goodness, I thought I might have to stand out here all day.”
Funny Gert Commentary
He reached for the packages in her arms. She handed them to him exclaiming, “Well nephew you look handsome and orange as ever. You must spend more time in that tanning bed than you do in your own bed. Or is it that you have decided to become a rabbit and are on a carrot only diet?”
Jonathan’s father laughed, “Come in, come in. Honey, Gert is here!”
His wife had at last heard the doorbell and was walking towards them.
“Hello dear.” said Gert. “You must give me the secret you have to never aging. Do you sleep in the freezer?” Gert gave her a hug. She made her way into the sitting room and sat down with a huff in the armchair. “Now where are those two weird children you took so long getting around to giving birth to?”
