Chapter 8 Aunt Gert Installment 45
Jonathan walked out of the back room first.
“Ah here’s old skin and bones himself. Come here Jonathan. I have something for you.” Aunt Gert grabbed one of the packages from the end table where Jonathan’s father had placed them and handed it to him.
Presenting the Presents
Jonathan opened it and discovered a large box, one of those you get from the warehouse stores. It was filled with Little Debbie chocolate cakes of some sort.
“That’s called food," Aunt Gert explained. “You take it and place it in your mouth. Then you chew it and swallow it. If you do it enough times you might actually gain some weight.”

Jonathan smiled at his aunt. She smiled back, her eyes twinkling.
“Now where is little Plato. No, that’s not his name. Come here Socrates.” Solomon’s bright blue eyes looked up through his curly, blonde mop of hair. He smiled serenely at his aunt.
Aunt Gert sat back and appraised him. “Well, I’m glad you’re still wearing normal clothes. I thought by now you would have on a toga and slippers.” She reached for another package and handed it to him.
The Profound Nature of Solomon
Solomon took the present and carefully removed the wrapping paper barely making a tear. Inside he found a real rubber band gun made of wood. It had a rotating wheel that released the bands with the squeeze of the trigger. She was always looking for toys that would help him become more like a normal, run around, get-in-trouble kind of boy. She had found the "real rubber band gun" on one of the shopping channels.
“Thank you, Aunt Gert,” said Solomon with sincere appreciation. It was always amazing to Gert that Solomon could make each moment feel like it was the most important moment that had happened to him or anyone since the beginning of time.
