HOW MUCH?? Dollar Tree Announces Prices Jumping in Utah, Nevada, California
Names used to mean something.
Like General Ulysses S. Grant for example or the other guy.
You knew if you were dealing with a Ulysses you were basically in for it.
And you knew if you were going to a place called Dollar Tree, that you were gonna get a bunch of one dollar items.
Ha!
Not anymore.
According to the Clarion Ledger, Dollar Tree is not only closing hundreds of stores, it's also raising the prices. (LINK TO FULL ARTICLE)
"This year, across 3,000 stores, we expect to expand our multi-price assortment by over 300 items at price points ranging from $1.50 to $7," Dollar Tree CEO Rick Dreiling said in the call on March 13."
Seven dollars?
What is this the seven dollar tree?
If I wanted to spend that I'd go to Sears.
I'll be danged if I'm gonna pay $7 dollars for one of those decorative fairies.
I'm not sure how big of Dollar Tree shopper you are, but I appreciate the company. It's clean, they have great lighting and handsome register workers. You go in there and you know you're gonna be taken care of so I'm not sure how much this will effect the most loyal of customers.
There are those who say: "I'm hopping in my teenage mutant ninja turtle slippers and going to Walmart."
And I understand that Walmart is bigger and is open more and might have a wider selection of goods. But for the real cheap-o's out there, I'm not sure you can compare the two. What do you say? Let us know in the comments!
