LET’S DANCE: Kevin Bacon Going To Utah Prom Next Month!
It's been 40 years since Kevin Bacon filmed his hit film, Footloose. Unless you've been living under a rock, you're aware that Footloose was filmed in Northern Utah. More specifically, that high school was Payson High School in Payson, Utah. Payson High School still stands, and the hallways are still the same... for now. This will be the final year where Payson High School stands. It will be torn down in Spring of 2025. A new Payson High School will be taking over this Fall.
The students at Payson High have started the campaign #BaconToPayson in hopes that he will join them for their final prom in the notorious high school. The students are also promoting Bacon's foundation, SixDegrees - Bacon's initiative to sustain and enrich local communities.
On Friday, reporters from The Today Show stopped in to Payson High and talked with students about how much it would mean for them to have Kevin Bacon make it to their prom. At a rally inside the gym at Payson, the crowd exploded when Kevin Bacon appeared on screen, live, talking to the crowd. Bacon was grateful for their support and told them the big news. He will be at the prom next month! The crowd exploded even more in disbelief. That's not all, however, The Today Show will also be there for the final dance.

AMAZING Southern Utah Restaurants With BAD Locations
When it comes to having a business, LOCATION IS KEY, right? It's very important to have a good location for your business! However, there's some businesses that have AWFUL LOCATIONS, but their food is so good that their bad location doesn't even matter! Here are some of those businesses in Southern Utah with AWFUL LOCATIONS, but GREAT FOOD!
Red Fort Indian Cuisine:
Absolutely TERRIBLE location for Red Fort, but man, they make it work! Their food is KILLER. I was a little iffy about trying Indian food at first, but they changed my mind real quick. But their location?! It's like maybe the most hidden spot in all of Southern Utah. It's literally BEHIND Target. Wtf?
Island Grinds:
This is my FAVORITE Hawaiian food in ALL of Southern Utah, but their location is pretty bad! It's not absolutely terrible, but pretty bad. I can't even get a picture of it on Google Earth. They're located off of Sunset Boulevard by Albertsons. I know Bishop's is right there next to them and Little Caesars, but that's all I can name in that little shopping center. Bad location, GREAT FOOD!
Mary's Cheesecakes:
This cheesecake place in St. George is ACTUALLY FIRE! These cheesecakes are so good, but I would've never found them if it wasn't for my mom. My mom asked me to go pick up her prescriptions from a place called Sienna's Pharmacy off Dixie Drive. In that little shopping center/ office building area, there she is... Mary's Cheesecakes! Location is so bad, but cheesecakes blow your mind! The GREAT NEWS HERE... Mary's Cheesecake is getting a brand new second location! You'll soon be able to get Mary's Cheesecakes at Dino Crossing in the old Cookie Co. building!
Silver Reef Brewery:
Silver Reef Brewery is BY FAR the most uniquely placed restaurant in town. However, with it being an actual running brewery, it has to be out in the middle of the industrial part of town. Their food is sooooo good that it's worth finding the location and making the drive out there!
Side Car Cafe:
Have you tried Side Car Cafe yet? They're located in Desert Canyons. Desert Canyons is the neighborhood off Southern Parkway closest to the airport. It's out in the middle of nowhere, but the food is great! They have multiple locations across Northern Utah. This is a place I really hope sticks around for a while!
Corndog Truck:
Many people have submitted this one strictly because WE NEVER KNOW WHERE TO FIND IT! I'm sure there's probably an app or something, but that's the risk we take with the Corndog Truck! It's usually spotted in the parking lot at Hurst Ace Hardware on the corner of Bluff Street and St. George Boulevard! But, more recently I've seen it at the new Food Truck Park in Washington!
St. George's 4th of July Concert Artists Should Be...
Spring has sprung in Southern Utah, and Summer is right around the corner! That means, swimming, HOT DAYS, and the 4th of July Concert at Utah Tech University! Every year there is a concert that brings thousands of people to the football stadium at Utah Tech. The artist is ALWAYS a country act so we can imagine this year will be just the same. But maybe we'll get a non-country artist this year!

Morgan Wallen:
Morgan is currently the KING of Country Music. Women love him, men love him, kids love him. This would be a home run to have Morgan headline our 4th of July Celebration here in St. George!
Jelly Roll:
Jelly Roll is an incredibly unique artist. He's an ex-felon, drug dealer, rapper, and now Country Music SUPERSTAR! He's married to an ex-sex worker and they're a power couple. They're so unique in the music industry, and people LOVE THEM! Let's get Jelly into town!
Taylor Swift:
She's still touring! Is there any chance we can get her in St. George? Well... It would be tough. She's performing in the Netherlands on July 1st and July 5th, so probably not. But hey... Never say never!
Nickelback:
I don't understand the amount of CRAP that Nickelback gets! I LOVE NICKELBACK! They just released a new album last year, and they've got SO MANY HITS that people know and love. Let's get Nickelback here!
Post Malone:
Posty is a Utah boy. I've seen him perform on NBA All-Star Weekend in SLC, and he's been spotted in Southern Utah multiple times! Maybe we could get him booked for 4th of July here at Utah Tech!
Jason Aldean:
One of my favorite Country concerts I've ever been to was Jason Aldean in Salt Lake City. I was at the Aldean show in 2017 that is now known as the biggest mass shooting in modern American history, and there were a ton of people from Southern Utah that were there that night. That would be awesome to get Jason Aldean here for the 4th.
Tim McGraw:
Another AMAZING show is Tim McGraw. I went to him in Laughlin in 2019 and got to meet him too! Nice guy. Smells like a million bucks. Tim has done Stadium of Fire 4th of July concert in Provo a few years ago, maybe we can get him here in St. George!
Reba McEntire:
The Queen of Country Music, Reba! She's got a place in Las Vegas and had a long standing residency there as well. Reba is now getting her second wind with fame. She's currently a coach on The Voice and just sang the National Anthem at the Super Bowl in Vegas.
*NSYNC:
I will sell my house to get NSYNC to come to St. George. I would sell my soul to the devil, himself to make this happen. Justin Timberlake just released a new album and performed a few NSYNC songs with the other four members. Let's do whatever it takes to get NSYNC here to perform!
