Being A Good Samaritan In Arizona Is Illegal, Apparently

Arizona summers are never any fun. Record breaking heatwaves sweep the state every year, and folks will do whatever they can to try and keep cool.

One Good Samaritan has been trying to make the heat more tolerable in his community, but is being shut down. That won't stop him, and now he's taking the fight to them.

David Martin is a Goodyear, AZ staple. For the past five years, he's been leaving a cooler outside of his house stocked with bottles of water for any thirsty passerby to take advantage of. That all changed last year, when his local HOA asked for him to stop.

He was initially fined $50 for storing items in plain sight in the neighborhood. Martin didn't back down, and began racking up hundreds of dollars in fines, which he gladly paid to keep his project afloat. Now, he wants to make sure no one can get in his way again.

Taking Down the HOA

Martin believed that his HOA's aggressiveness was a step too far, and is now fighting to remove the board members that have tried to shut down his plans. He held a meeting, which saw many members of the community step forward and raise their issues with the HOA, leading to a petition to remove the members being created.

190 members of the neighborhood voted to remove them, but they refused to step down, stating that 190 signatures was not nearly enough to justify their removal. Now, Martin plans to take them on in court, and continue serving his community.
